The GRE is a crucial component of the graduate school application process. This test is used in admission decisions for graduate, business, and law school programs around the world. The GRE General Test is designed to closely reflect the sort of thinking employees and executives are required to perform in today's fast-paced business environments. The exam assesses verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing abilities, intentionally focusing on skills that have been developed and strengthened over a long period of time and can be applied to vastly different jobs and positions. GRE scores range between 130 to 170 in the verbal and quantitative sections of the exam, and the writing portion is scored on a scale ranging from 0 to 6 using half-point increments. In order to be competitive for the highest-ranking graduate programs, it is imperative to do well on the GRE. An average total GRE score is around 300, but for those seeking admission to the world's best graduate, business, or law programs, scores will need to be far above average. A score of 318 at the 75th percentile is considered "good," whereas a score of 329 at the 90th percentile is considered "excellent." At Manhattan Review, we can help you obtain those excellent scores through our established curriculum.

GRE Prep Course Budapest - Photo of Student Sophia

I wanted to thank you for helping me with the GRE prep and let you know that your teaching tactics worked! I took the exam yesterday and got an 800 on the math, 570 on the verbal and who knows about the writing but hopefully it's not below a 4! The verbal is tricky with those silly words but I am happy with my score and ready to walk away from this ETS madness. Thanks again and all the best!

Meet a Budapest GRE Tutor: Anson S.

Anson, originally from Dearborn, Michigan, graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in economics. Growing up, his mother was a literature professor at the university, and he fondly recalls attending her lectures "even though I had no idea what she was talking about and would have felt more at home with numbers than words!" he laughs. Anson had always dreamed of a career in international business, one that would allow him to travel and learn about finances, commerce, and administration in other countries, and he decided to purse that dream by taking the GRE and applying to master's programs. During his time at the University of Michigan, Anson worked for two years as a teaching assistant and a tutor in the university's learning lab. Understanding the value of tutoring and professional study help, he completed a GRE prep course with Manhattan Review. Anson scored so well on the GRE that he was offered a scholarship to complete his master's degree at the University of Chicago.

During his master's program, Anson joined Manhattan Review, offering his own knowledge and experience and helping other prospective students learn how to perform to their highest potential on the GRE. "It's a scary exam, but there's a method to the madness if you're willing to learn it," he explains. His students appreciate his sense of humor as well as his readiness to find yet another way to explain a challenging concept. When Anson had the opportunity to relocate to Budapest, he was excited for the chance to live overseas while continuing his work with Manhattan Review. Anson's students have been accepted into countless prestigious master's- and doctorate-level programs, and he loves hearing their success stories. When he isn't learning the details of European economics, he can be found soaking with friends in the local hot springs, biking to his favorite cafe, or taking his telescope to the outskirts of Budapest on cloudless nights to better see the stars.
